Curriculum Vitae:
Dr Ali Nokhodchi is associate professor of Pharmaceutical Technology and head of postgraduate studies in school of Pharmacy in Tabriz University of Medical Sciences.  He also is the head of Pharmaceutical Technology Laboratory in Drug Applied Research Center.  He graduated in Pharm. D. from Tabriz University of Medical Sciences-Iran in 1988 and received his PhD from Liverpool John Moores University-UK in 1996.  His PhD research project covered The Compaction Properties of Hydroxypropylmethylcellulose 2208 and Ibuprofen.  He has got training in Pharmaceutical Company (Squibb Pharm. company Tehran-Iran) in 1988-1989.

Dr Nokhodchi currently teaches Pharmaceutical technology (for pharmacy undergrduate and postgraduaie students), Pharmaceutics (for pharmacy undergrduate and postgraduaie students), Hygienic and cosmetics (for pharmacy undergrduate and postgraduaie students), Practical pharmaceutical technology (for postgraduate students) and Practical hygienic and cosmetics (for Postgraduate students).

Dr Nokhodchi is a member of Iranian Association of Pharmaceutical Scientists.  He is also editor of the Journal of Pharmaceutical Sciences of the Pharmacy School of Tabriz University of Medical Sciences.

Current research programs:

1.  Formulation of sustained release matrices and chemical stability studies

2.  Microencapsulation

3.  Skin absorption studies especially the effects of surfactants and terpene enhancers

4.  Solid dispersions of poorly soluble drugs

5.  Cosolvency studies

6.  Habit modification and characterisation of pharmaceutical powders

7.  Bioavailability/bioequivalency studies (mainly as consultancy for pharmaceutical companies)

8.  Formulation of hygienic and cosmetic products

9.  Physics of Compaction and compression of Pharmaceutical powders

2. Working (part time) as a research consultant for IND management (USA) carried out in the School of Pharmacy, Liverpool John Moores University ( for a period of 6 months in 1993)
