Curriculum Vitae:
Dr Shirin Babri is Assistant Professor of Physiology. She is graduated in Pharm D from Faculty of Pharmacy in Tabriz University of Medical Sciences, Tabriz-Iran in 1990 and recieved her PhD in Physiology from Physiology Department, Faculty of Medicine in Shaheed Behshti University of Medical Sciences, Tehran-Iran in 2002. Her PhD research project covered
Dr Babri currently teaches Endocrinology, Reproductive system, Nervous System and Gastrointestinal system to Medical students, Endocrinology, Cell Physiology, Nervous System, Work and Handling of Laboratory Animals to MSc and PhD Students, and also all parts of physiology to Paramedical students.
She has been chosen as one of outstanding student researchers of the year 2000 by Tabriz University of Medical Sciences. Dr Babri is a member of Iranian Society of Physiology and Pharmacology.
Current research programs:
Dr Babri is currently working on mechanisms that involved in memory consolidation and affect it. Also she is interested in the effects of anesthetics on neurotransmitters in the hippocampus
.
Research experiences in addition to PhD thesis are as follows:
1. Effect of halothane, isoflorane, hypothermia and scopolamine on memory consolidation and retrieval
2. Assessment of serotonin level change following anesthesia with halothane and hypothermia in CA1 area of hippocampus. A microdialysis study
3. Effects of electromagnetic field (50 Hz, 50 G) on memory consolidation and retrieval in male rats
4. Effects of insulin intrahippocampal injection on memory consolidation in normal and diabetic rats
5. Effects of 17 beta estradiol and physostigmin intrahippocampal injection on memory consolidation in ovarictomized rats
6. Design and construction of electromagnetic field generator with special abilities
7. Effects of exercise on learning and memory in male rats
